Trial Class FAQs
Q: When should I arrive for my trial?
A: We recommend families arrive approximately 15 minutes prior to the start of their trial class. This gives your family enough time to find parking, check in with our front desk, and get your athlete ready to join their class.
Q: What is parking like at OGA?
A: OGA shares a parking lot with several surrounding business. Make sure to be mindful of our neighbors when parking. For more information on parking, visit our parking page.
Q: What should my child wear to class?
A: Athletes must wear either a one-piece leotard, or t-shirt and athletic shorts or pants. Long hair must be tied back and out of the face, jewelry is limited to stud/post earrings only, and no sock or shoes are allowed on the gym floor.
Q: Where should we go when we arrive?
A: First and foremost, all trial families should check in with our front desk. After that, you will head upstairs to take off shoes and socks and prepare to join class. Our preschool classes for students 2-5 will meet up the stairs and to the right, while our school age classes for students 6 and up will meet to the left. At the beginning of classes, coaches will call all classes down the stairs on their side to begin warm ups as a large group.
Q: What is OGA doing regarding the COVID-19 pandemic?

Q: Can I take pictures of my child in class?
A: We understand wanting to capture the excitement of your child’s trial class, and permit photo and video to be taken from our viewing area. However, for the safety our athletes and coaches, we have a strict “NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY” policy.
Q: What should I do if I have questions during or after my child’s trial class?
A: Feel free to contact our front desk with any questions you may have. If you have a question specifically for your child’s coach, please wait until after class to speak to them.
Q: What happens during a trial class?
A: During a trial class, your gymnast will take part in a full length gymnastics class with other children of the same level. All classes begin with group warm ups conducted with all other classes beginning at the same time. After that, your child will receive hands-on instruction on up to three different apparatuses (depending on the length of the class). Finally, the class will regroup to discuss the day along with any upcoming gym information before students are released to parents.
Q: If my child is joining a class with students who have already been enrolled for a while, won’t they be behind?
A: Our classes all follow structured lesson plans that break down skills into manageable pieces before being put together to master the skill. Our coaches are able to teach the beginning parts of skills to newcomers, and more advanced parts of skills to students who have been in the class. This allows for all students in the same class to be working on appropriate level skill progressions.
