Claire Skach Makes National Rhythmic Team


Hartford, CT (August 13-14th, 2010) -- Claire Skach and Manon Chaney of the Oregon Gymnastics Academy competed for spots on the National Rhythmic Team at the prestigious VISA National Championships, August 13-14th, in Hartford, Ct.

 

The girls did extremely well. Manon placed 16th All-Around, while Claire placed 8th All-Around, securing a spot on the Senior Rhythmic National Team. “I am so proud and honored to be a member of the  National Team,” exclaimed Claire. “I had very good performances in Hartford and I accomplished my goals. I am excited for the upcoming season.” Claire, and her seven teammates, will now go on to represent the U.S.A. at elite international competitions.

 

“The VISA Championships was incredibly exciting. Both Claire and Manon competed to their highest potential,” commented OGA Rhythmic Head Coach Nadine Davies. “There is nothing more inspiring than watching athletes realize their dreams.”

Oregon Gymnastics Academy Rhythmic Team Prepares Two Gymnasts for VISA National Championships



Detroit, MI (July 10-11th, 2010) -- Two gymnasts on the Oregon Gymnastics Academy Rhythmic Team – Claire Skach and Manon Chaney - qualified for the prestigious VISA National Championships by placing in the top 20 at the National Qualifiers in Detroit, July 10-11th. Claire and Manon are the only Oregonians to qualify, and Claire is now the highest ranked competitor in the Pacific NW.

 

The VISA National Championships will take place August 13-14th, in Harford, CT, determining the National Team from the top eight competitors. The National Team represents the United States at elite international competitions - such as the World Cup and Grand Prix. In an Olympic year, the top six VISA competitors move on to compete at the Olympic qualifier.

 

Rhythmic Head Coach and program manager, Nadine Davies, commented on Claire’s and Manon’s success and hard work, saying, “Claire and Manon have trained very hard this season and I am so proud of their success.  Visa Championships in Hartford is going to be incredibly exciting.”

 

OGA Hosts the 2010 Boys Region 2 Championships

OGA hosted the Region 2 Championships 2010 the last weekend April 10th and 11th.

 

Level 5’s started off the meet.  Our level 5 team was led by Shiva Bharadwaj who placed 2nd on vault, 3rd on pommel horse, rings and high bar and was 2nd All-Around.  Brian McKiernan is Regional Champion on parallel bars, 2nd on rings and 3rd All-Around.   Jacob Small placed 14th on floor and high bar, 15th All-Around.   In the 7-9yr age group, Sheldon Vacek placed 4th on parallel bars, 7th on rings and 9th All-Around.   Max Kaneshiro placed 18th on high-bar and 18th All-Around.   Noah Brooke placed 3rd on floor and 23rd All-Around.   Bryce Walters placed 12th on vault and 44th All-Around.

 

In the 10-11 yr old age group, Level 6, Justin Olson is Regional Champion on rings, high bar, 2nd on floor and All-Around Regional Champion.   Matthew Harper was 4th on floor, 4th on pommel horse and 11th All-Around.   In the 12yr old age group, Keenan Moeller is Regional Champion on floor, parallel bars, high bar, 4th on rings and 2nd All-Around.   In the 8-9 yr old age group, Carson Williams is Regional Champion on floor, 3rd place on high bar, 4th place All-Around.  Keaghan Auld placed 4th on floor, 5th on high bar and 5th All-Around.

 

In Level 7, Carter Webb swept all events being Regional Champion on every event and the All-Around Regional Champion.  His score of 90.65 is 6 points ahead of the 2nd place finisher.  Benjamin Fisher was 3rd on rings, 3rd on parallel bars, 4th on floor and 5th All-Around.

In Lever 9, Zach Ochsenschlager placed 3rd on parallel bars, 5th on rings, 6th All-Around which qualified him to be on the Regional Team at Nationals.  Evan Vacek is Regional Champion on parallel bars, 3rd on floor, 4th on pommel horse and 7th All-Around.  Evan will be an alternate for the National Team.   David Ganz placed 3rd on vault, 7th on rings and floor and 11th All-Around, also qualifying for Nationals.   Josh Havelind placed 9th on floor, 10th on rings, 8th on parallel bars and 13th All-Around, also qualifying for Nationals.  Tyler Collins placed 7th on pommel horse, 10th on floor, 14th All-Around.

 

We have one level 10, Patrick Casey placed 3rd on floor, 3rd on pommel horse, 9th on parallel bars and 11th All-Around.  Patrick also qualified for Nationals.

OGA Girls Stand Tall at the Regional Championships

 

Auburn, WA (April 9th-11th, 2010) – The OGA optional girls stand tall after the 2010 Region 2 Championships, held April 9th-11th at Mountainview High School.

 

Despite large age groups and tough competition, five OGA        optional girls qualified to compete at Western Nationals, coached by Kristin Wemm and Britany Dean. On OGA’s level 9 team, Courtney Vacek placed 3rd on floor and qualified for Western Nationals. Paige Van Doren is the uneven bars champion, placed 3rd on floor and in All Around, and is qualified for Western Nationals. Eli Pecsok placed 2nd on vault and qualified for Western Nationals. Alexis Bridgewater placed 2nd of floor and qualified for Western Nationals. Vanessa Fuller qualified for Western Nationals.

 

From OGA’s level 10 team, Ashley Amick qualified for the National Invitational Tournament. Alyssa Nguyen placed 2nd on uneven bars.

 

In regards to the team’s performance at the Region 2 Championships and the overall season, Kristin Wemm stated, “I couldn’t be more proud of what the girls accomplished this season and how well they represented OGA. They worked hard to overcome the challenges they faced over the course of the season and learned to focus on achieving their goals, no matter what obstacles presented themselves. They accomplished great things this weekend against very tough competition and they should be proud of themselves and their team.”

 

OGA's Rhythmic Team Excels at State Championships

 

Beaverton, OR (April 3rd, 2010) – The Oregon Gymnastics Academy’s Rhythmic Team achieved outstanding success at the 2010 Oregon State Championships, hosted at Valley Catholic High School by the Oregon Gymnastics Academy.

 

A total of 62 rhythmic gymnasts competed in this year’s Oregon State Championships. The OGA rhythmic team took 10 of the 13 All Around titles they were competing for, coached by Nadine Davies, Jayme Vincent, Roselily Trang, and Riley Gordon. In the end, OGA left with 48 first place titles, 37 second place titles, and 21 third place titles. OGA’s All Around champions are: Daphne Wu, Lani Waggoner, Alison Lu, Sydney Nagy, Julianna Mazziotti, Alyssa Bagoyo, Lili Considine, Riley Gordon, Manon Chaney, and Claire Skach.

 

In regards to the girls’ success, Jayme Vincent stated, “We are very proud of the girls and all they have accomplished so far this season, especially at the State Championships! We are looking forward to an exciting Regional Championships on April 17th-18th.”
